Ahead of American Crime Story‘s return next month, FX has confirmed that it is already in process of developing the potential fourth installment to Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed anthology series. Set to be titled as Studio 54: American Crime Story, the new installment will center around Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager’s infamous club in the 1970s.
“The story tells the saga of Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager who in 1977 turned their midtown Manhattan disco into an international mecca of nightlife for the rich and famous and commoners alike—renowned for its lavish parties, music, sex and drugs,” reads the synopsis. “With Rubell and Schrager’s meteoric rise came their epic fall less than three years later when the impresarios were convicted of tax fraud.”

American Crime Story hails from executive producers Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, Larry Karaszewski, Scott Alexander.
The limited anthology series began with The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, which won nine Emmys out of 22 nominations. It also won the Golden Globe, BAFTA, AFI, PGA, WGA, and TCA awards and it was the most critically acclaimed program of 2016. The second installment, The Assassination of Gianni Versace also received a number of award nominations with lead star Darren Criss winning an Emmy award and Golden Golden award for Best Actor in a Limited Series.

The third installment titled as Impeachment: American Crime Story will center around national scandal involving former U.S. President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial caused by his affair with 22-year-old White House intern, Monica Lewinsky. The series will be led by ACS alum Sarah Paulson, Beanie Feldstein, Clive Owen, and more.
The series is slated to make its return on Tuesday, September 7, exclusively on FX.
