between viral videos with millions of views and suspicious

The western epic packaged by Rockstar Games has brought to the videogame universe a very rich fresco of the atmospheres evoked by the myth of the Frontier, intrinsically part of American history.

With accurate realism, the development team has enriched the personal story of the protagonist Arthur Morgan with a very rich array of NPCs and contexts, among which the theme of racial discrimination has also found space. And if within Red Dead Redemption 2 it is possible to come across the Ku Klux Klan, there are also those who have tried to bring the racist organization even within Red Dead Online. A circumstance that led Rockstar Games to intervene, in order to block a hack that allowed to summon the KKK within the multiplayer Frontier.

Now, the contrast to players who decide to evoke the imaginary of the Ku Klux Klan within the title has become the protagonist of a viral spread. An active user on TikTok like “YuhBoy” has in fact collected over 7.3 million views, 125,000 followers and 3 million likes with his series of short videos recorded in Red Dead Online. In the latter, the player repeatedly encounters groups of users who sport the traditional white clothing of the members of the historic criminal group. Having come across racist groups, TikToker quickly devotes itself to their pursuit, usually ending in the defeat of rivals.

Following the success of the videos, however, the first controversies were not lacking, with several observers who questioned the veracity of the gameplay scenes represented. In particular, the frequency of such meetings and the lack of reactivity of the opponents have prompted Kotaku’s editorial staff to try to contact YuhBoy, who has not yet offered an official reply.
