Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 next-gen still set for 2021, but could slip

In the company’s latest earnings report, CD Projekt RED confirmed that the expected next-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt will arrive by the end of 2021, despite the difficulties encountered by the study.

After returning to the PS Store and a few days after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.3, CD Projekt RED seems willing to keep the promises made to players. In the latest report addressed to shareholders, the Polish study confirmed that the “target date” for the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 remains set at “end 2021”, specifying however that the plans could change at any moment. Michal Nowakowski told VGC the following: “Bearing in mind the lessons learned last year and taking into consideration the fact that this project is still in development, we cannot be completely certain that the program will remain unchanged.” The update of The Witcher 3 developed by Saber is also expected by the end of the current year, but it could be subject to delays like that of Cyberpunk 2077.

The Xbox Series X / S and PS5 version of the famous sci-fi blockbuster will take advantage of the additional power of the new consoles and will bring a series of additional content. Even the adventures of Geralt will be able to be played with a new graphics, in an edition that includes all the DLC and content inspired by the Netflix series.

In the report CD Projekt RED then announced the desire to gradually move the developers engaged in the improvement of Cyberpunk 2077 towards new projects. Meanwhile, players continue to report the particular glitches that seem to plague the game after the last patch.
