Devolver Digital attracts Sony’s attention, PlayStation invests in indie publisher

Devolver Digital made its debut on AIM (London Stock Exchange platform) with a valuation of 950 million dollars, Sony Interactive Entertainment also dived into the share package, the PlayStation house has in fact bought 5% of the shares on sale.

From the premise that Sony has not announced anything about it, the news was brought to light by GamesIndustry, while obviously underlining how this investment has nothing to do with a possible acquisition of Devolver Digital by PlayStation.

Devolver Digital is one of the most prominent independent publishers thanks to the success of games such as Inscryption, Shadow Warrior, My Friend Pedro, Death’s Door, Loop Hero, Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout and the Serious Sam series, just to mention some of the IPs present in the company catalog.

The company has an excellent relationship with all the hardware houses and its games are available on all platforms as well as on subscription services such as Game Pass, PlayStation Now and Apple Arcade, just to name a few. As also reiterated by GI.biz, a small investment in shares does not necessarily lead to a partnership between the two parties.

Devolver Digital remains an independent publisher and the debut on the stock market will be used to find new funds to continue working in total autonomy.
