Did Star Wars 1313 Inspire Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett? Talk to a game designer

Star Wars 1313 is still an open wound for many video game and Star Wars fans today. The title announced in 2012 was canceled a year later following the closure of LucasArts, leaving a bad taste in the mouth of fans who could not wait to play the promising Action / Adventure set in Coruscant.

Over the years, various details and concept art relating to the game have leaked online, even in very recent times: think of the never-before-seen gameplay video of Star Wars 1313 with Boba Fett, still dating back to the early stages of development but which already gave a taste of the atmosphere that would be breathed in the never completed title. However, something seems to have survived to the point of being reused in the TV series produced by Disney, such as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, still in full swing.

To reveal it on Twitter is the game designer Grant Parker, who revealed that he worked on the game early in his career, helping to program the section of the bar seen in the leaked video and creating some assets such as the carcasses of tauntauns destined for a butcher with which Boba Fett interacts at some point in the action. Hence, then, the interesting revelation, which could however be a small spoiler for those who have not yet seen the most recent episode of Book of Boba Fett.

“Fun fact: several excellent early concepts from 1313 have been repurposed and used in Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett. I was so happy to note that the latest episode of Boba Fett also had a butcher shop complete with tauntauns,” reveals Parker. remembering with nostalgia the videogame work never made.

In any case, the videogame future of Star Wars is already well outlined: EA and Respawn have announced three new Star Wars games, including an Action / Adventure that could be the much rumored Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2.
