Bad news for console users waiting to play Odyssey, the huge expansion of Elite Dangerous already available on PC since last May. Frontier Developments has in fact made the decision to postpone its release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
To an unpleasant decision, another is added: the team led by David Braben at the moment has not set any new launch window for the console versions, whose arrival is therefore completely shrouded in mystery. “Ultimately, we believe it is right to focus our efforts on platforms where we have already made Elite Dangerous Odyssey available before expanding further,” this is the main motivation behind the postponement of the expansion. After all, Elite Dangerous Odyssey on PC was plagued by bugs at launch, which is why Braben had to apologize to the players through a letter acknowledging the mistakes made in the management of the new, massive content.
Evidently the difficulties given by the current situation on PC could be the main reasons behind the postponement of the game on PS4 and Xbox One, versions originally expected for the autumn of 2021 and which would have been playable in backward compatibility on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. . At this point the wait will become even longer, indefinitely. In the meantime, for PC users, please note that the new planets of Elite Dangerous Odyssey will not be visible without the expansion.
