As announced in recent weeks, the Publishing division of the Xbox Game Studios and the guys of the Asobo team make officially available from today, November 18, the GOTY Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator: the new version of the blockbuster airplane of the Redmond house is downloadable ‘for free’ with Xbox Game Pass.
The Game of the Year Edition of Flight Simulator was created to celebrate the enthusiastic reviews, the awards obtained and the positive feedback with which the community accompanied the launch and evolution of the title, from the release on PC to the transposition for the nextgen Xbox console.
The automatic update to the GOTY Edition includes a plethora of optimizations and, above all, lots of new content, starting with the introduction of 5 new aircraft: the Boeing F / A-18 Super Hornet, the VoloCity, the Pilatus PC-6 Porter , the CubCrafters NX-Cub and the Aviat Pitts Special S1S.
The update also takes care to add 8 airports in Germany, Switzerland and the United States, each with hyper-realistic reconstructions of polygonal models and textures performed by satellite photogrammetry. Among the surprises of the GOTY Edition there are also updates for the weather system, early access to the DirectX 12 version and the ability to access a replay system in Developer mode. Of particular interest are the 6 new Discovery Flights (Helsinki, Freiburg im Breisgau, Mecca, Monument Valley, Singapore and Mount Cook) and the 14 unpublished tutorials.
Access to the GOTY Edition update is offered to both game owners and Xbox Game Pass subscribers, both on PC and Xbox Series X / S. In case you missed it, here is our Flight Simulator review on Xbox Series X.
