In addition to the announcement of God of War for PC, Sony also briefed us on the sales achieved by the Santa Monica Studio game to date.
We learn with enormous surprise that in the last three and a half years (the game was launched in April 2018) God of War has sold an astonishing 19.5 million copies. This is a large number, especially if we take into account the fact that it is a game released on a single gaming platform. The Spartan proved to have incredibly long legs, since – driven by word of mouth, quality of experience, price cuts, discounts and the PS5 patch – sales have always remained constant. God of War reached 10 million copies in May 2019, exactly one year after publication, which means that the remaining 9.5 million were spread over two and a half years.
The number of copies sold is set to increase further in the coming months, since God of War will also arrive on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The launch of the new version – featuring support for NVIDIA Reflex, DLSS, ultra-wide resolution and much more – is set for January 14, 2022, a few months before the release of God of War Ragnarok on PS4 and PS5 scheduled for a generic 2022. .
