Have you noticed any references to the Batman Arkham series?

Have you seen the new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League story trailer shown at last night’s DC FanDome? If you haven’t done so yet, fix it and come back here, as there are several Easter eggs to discover.

The guys from Rocksteady Studios had fun inserting a series of references to Batman Arkham, the franchise that projected them to success and which is in effect a prequel to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – the new game is in fact set in the same universe, more precisely after the events narrated in Arkham Knight.

Well, the first Easter egg is visible immediately at the beginning of the trailer and is obvious to anyone who has played the first game in the series. The first images are a tribute to the opening sequence of Batman Arkham Asylum, while the scene of Amanda Waller’s recruitment of expendable criminals is set in the first combat area. It must be said, in any case, that Waller is not voiced by the same interpreter of Arkham Origins, but by Debra Wilson, who in turn had already held the role in Telltale’s Batman: The Enemy Within.

Let’s take a few steps forward to get to the scene where the team interacts with Gizmo, a solta of evil MacGyver from the DC universe. Here you can see some typical Arkham objects: the Arkham City Riddler’s hat on King Shark’s head, Batman’s grappling gun in the hands of Harley Quinn and a series of gadgets belonging to the Arkhamverse characters hanging on the wall of Gizmo , including the bat-hang glider.

It’s not over yet: the Batmobile visible at minute 1:27 mounts a reflector with the same X-shape as the GCPD batsignal in Arkham Knight, also at minute 2:10 the presence of Poison Ivy is suggested, apparently surviving the events of the latest game in the series. The Penguin, on the other hand, always wears the bottle-bottom-shaped monocle …

Have you noticed all these Arkham Easter eggs? We remind you that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be launched in the course of 2022 on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC. While you’re at it, check out the Gotham Knights trailer too.
