
According to what is claimed on social media by the now famous Fortnite leaker and dataminer known as HYPEX, Epic Games’ free blockbuster battle royale will soon enter the new phase that will start the already announced era of Fortnite on Unreal Engine 5.
If you want to pay attention to the Fortnite dataminer, the passage of the free to play shooter on the fifth iteration of the Unreal Engine will coincide with the update that will start next season. The leaker does not provide information on the consoles that will be affected by the transition to Unreal Engine 5, but considering the cross-platform nature and the exceptional scalability of the graphics engine it is likely that the evolution of the engine is destined to affect both PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S that the versions for last-gen consoles or for mobile systems.
Fortnite Season 8, however, should start next September 12 on all platforms, consequently the official announcement of the passage of Epic’s battle royale on Unreal Engine 5 could take place at any time.
