Starting from the free-to-play mobile tie-ins, passing through the live service nature of Marvel’s Avengers, fans of the videogame adaptations dedicated to the heroes of the House of Ideas have become accustomed to the presence of microtransactions in recent years.
Microtransactions will not find fertile ground within Marvel’s Midnight Suns, the new title in development at Firaxis studios, the authors of the acclaimed XCOM strategy series. The creative director of the project, Jake Solomon, has confirmed that Midnight Suns will be “a single player tactical RPG”. This means that what will be released at launch will be a complete experience, and everyone will be able to access any content packaged by the development team for this new strategic experience. There are also no DLCs or extra items dedicated to cosmetic items: “Exactly, there won’t be. That’s not what we’re aiming for in this case.”
Of course, this does not rule out the possibility of expansions coming in the future, as happened with the XCOM series. In any case, it will be good to wait for developer updates regarding post-launch support.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be released in the course of 2022 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PS4 and Xbox One. The game’s first official gameplay trailer was recently unveiled.
