new gameplay details from Firaxis

Through an interview granted to the GamerGraves portal, Firaxis has provided some new details on Marvel’s Midnight Suns, a new XCOM-style strategic title starring the famous Marvel heroes, expected on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in March 2022.

First of all, compared to the XCOM series, creative director Jake Solomon confirms that Midnight Suns will have no time limit for missions: “The time limit in XCOM made sense in terms of narrative and gameplay, but Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a different game. and therefore has different objectives and mechanics “, explains Solomon, also adding important details about the longevity of the game:” Depending on the skill of the players, Midnight Suns could last between 40 and 60 hours overall “.

The director also talks about a very interesting gameplay element present in the Marvel title: our heroes can get injured in battle, an aspect that will result in a lower yield in the next mission. “The more you bring a certain hero into battle, the more you put them at risk of taking too much damage and getting injured,” Solomon explains, adding that “injured characters can still be used in combat, but they will have different penalties, for example they could start one. battle with half health. On some occasions, however, the heroes themselves may ask to be brought into action and you will get rewards if you do what they ask. “

We remind you that a showcase for Marvel’s Midnight Suns is coming, scheduled for 20:00 Italian time on Tuesday 7 September. Firaxis has also already confirmed that Marvel’s Midnight Suns will not have microtransactions or cosmetic DLCs.
