The developers of Eidos Montreal describe in video the fundamental stages of the creative process that led them to shape the combat system of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the sci-fi adventure announced by Square Enix during E3 2021.
In the interview granted to Game Informer, Senior Gameplay Director Patrick Fortier confirmed the singleplayer nature of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and, in discussing the development of the combat system, explained that it will focus on the skills, character and peculiar techniques of combat of individual team members.
Fortier and the other members of the Eidos Montreal development team then intervened to underline the importance of the Guardian Request System, the particular mechanics on which the gameplay of the title will be based. To those who will play the role of Star-Lord, the leaders of the Canadian subsidiary of Square Enix explain that it will be possible to deeply influence the behavior of teammates. The focus of the experience, however, will be Quill with its great agility, a factor that will materialize both in the third-person shooter sessions and in the close combat, thanks to the thrusters and laser guns to be used in the raids among the bizarre alien worlds of the Marvel universe.
