A few days after the release of Scarlet Nexus, the analysis of Digital Foundry’s performance on next-gen consoles could not be missing. How does Bandai Namco’s JRPG fare on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S?
The futuristic Bandai Namco-branded JRPG has been put to the test on the next generation consoles of Sony and Microsoft by the now famous British Digital Foundry technicians, showing rather solid performance starting from the resolution. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X Scarlet Nexus reaches the goal of 4K, skilfully using the dynamic resolution (starting from a native resolution of 1440p) and the temporal reconstruction techniques made available to the Unreal Engine 4. On Xbox Series On the other hand, the maximum resolution is 1440p, this time with a native resolution that starts at 900p in the most excited moments.
From the point of view of the framerate, all versions reach the target of 60 fps but with some differences between the various platforms. On Xbox Series X and S, Bandai Namco’s game remains stable during the exploratory phases while in the most eventful fights the framerate dances between 50 and 60 fps. In TVs that support VRR, however, the drops are not very perceptible and not too invasive. On PlayStation 5 things are better: in this case the framerate is rather stable, with some sporadic drops to 57/58 fps in the hottest clashes. From the point of view of graphics quality, all three consoles seem to apply the same settings without particular distinctions.
Load times are also very fast, with PS5 beating Xbox Series X / S by just a couple of seconds. Overall then Scarlet Nexus provides a noteworthy next-gen experience. Before leaving you to the movie we remind you that you can find the review of Scarlet Nexus on the pages of Everyeye.
