Western settings in future episodes of the series?

Yakuza is a series deeply rooted in Japanese culture, but have you ever tried to imagine a possible western location for one of the next chapters of the series developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio? Kazuki Hosokawa, director of Yakuza 0 and Yakuza 5 as well as the spin-off Lost Judgment, has thought about it.

In an interview with The Gamer, Hosokawa talked about the future of the RGG Studio and how he hopes for the international launch of all the team’s upcoming productions. According to what was reported by the newspaper, the director does not rule out that future episodes of the series may include scenarios set in the West, thus bringing its protagonists into completely different realities to explore and with new challenges to face. It’s hard to imagine a future Yakuza set in a European or American state, but given the growing popularity that the franchise has achieved even outside of Japan, the hypothesis may not be so impossible.

Would you like a Yakuza set outside Japan? In the meantime, official confirmations are awaited on Yakuza 8, the Story Trailer of Lost Judgment by Gamescom 2021 reminds you that the new adventures of Takayuki Yagami will start from 24 September 2021 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One. Also during the same interview, Hosokawa had fun imagining who would win a hypothetical challenge between Kazuma Kiryu and John Wick.
