The news was in the air but the official confirmation has arrived at Gamescom: Horizon Forbidden West has been postponed, the new Guerrilla Games game will not be released at the end of the year but will arrive only at the beginning of 2022. Here is the new date of Horizon 2.
Horizon Forbidden West will be released on February 18, 2022 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the Dutch studio has confirmed the cross-gen nature of the project, as it will also happen for other PlayStation Studios productions including Gran Turismo 7 and God of War II.
The sequel to Horizon will therefore cover the first party releases of the first part of the year going to position itself in the winter slot, the release at the end of February will allow Guerrilla to have more time to better refine some aspects of the project, the studio has however confirmed. that the game has entered the final stages of development and that the postponement is due solely to the desire to perfect the title so as not to disappoint the (very high, it must be said) expectations of the community.
Jason Schreier was among the first to talk about a postponement of Horizon Forbidden West to 2022, the rumor was then picked up and amplified by other journalists and insiders and became a reality at Gamescom.
